National assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung’wa will next week table a motion for the formation of a State capture of the economy commission of inquiry.
Hon Ichung’wa said that Kenyans need to know the whole truth of the depth of plunder of public resources orchestrated by the previous regime.
he accompanied President Ruto during a working tour to Kirinyaga County, he alleged that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was in the oil business and the current measures by the government were hurting him.
“He knows he was the sole guarantor and underwriter of deep state, state capture and corruption which made oil prices go up and our shilling weaken because they hoarded and knows the truth,” Ichung’wah said.
“He know, him together with those he was with in the handshake government were doing business with Kenyan oil that is why he is hurt because the government they were brokering is shut,” he added.
In his Press Conference last week, Raila had called on Kenya's investigative bodies; EACC and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to probe the tax compliance status and pricing model of the three oil companies.
Turning to the taxman, Raila also asked Kenya Revenue Authority, to come clean on the tax compliance status of the three oil companies.
"KRA should also explain why they are being enabled to evade billions in taxes while ordinary Kenyans are being harassed for taxes," he said.
Ichung’wah has however maintained it was the pledge of the Kenya Kwanza government to ensure Kenyans reap maximum benefits and are elated from poverty, saying the oil deal was one of the ways to ensure money which was being lost is diverted back to the benefit of ordinary Kenyans.
