Parliament approves the deployment of 1000 police officers in Haiti.
Following wide ranging deliberations that involved joint summons for the top senior chiefs, parliament has given the nod for the deployment.
The motion was passed on Thursday morning session and gives way for Kenya to take lead in restoration of law and order in Haiti.
In their submissions to the parliamentary security
committee, Interior CS Prof Kithure Kindiki and Inspector General of police Japheth Koome assured the house that adequate reconnaissance had been done.
Kenya will send a 1000 officers for a periods of one year, the Kenyan officers will be joined by another 1000 officers from other countries in the mission.
