Speaking at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort in Mombasa as he opened the ICPAK annual seminar, DP Gachagua insisted on the need of on-boarding professionals in crime investigations.
The deputy president explained that one of the greatest hindrance in taming corruption was the use of police officers solely in investigations.
bodies such as the EACC, ACA and DCI to consider bringing on board professionals such as accountants when dealing with corruption matters.
This, the deputy president explained, would help the police get to unravel crimes committed and break them down from the complex processes involved.
The deputy president said that those who are committing financial crimes do so using professionals from the sector and hence evade being caught by police officers who may not have the technical know how of loopholes and tricks used to pilfer public resources.
The deputy president further extended an olive branch to ICPAK saying that they too have a role to play in management of the economy and that as an administration, they are open to any progressive input that may help propel the country forward.
