Days after being set free by the senate following her impeachment by the Meru County assembly, Kawira Mwangaza held her first post impeachment cabinet meeting.
All the members of the county executive committee meeting with the exception of her deputy governor, Hon Rev Mutuma, were in attendance.
the Meru county secretary and copied to the governors chief of state, Mutuma alleged that his schedule was conflicted as he had other meetings planned for earlier and taking place at the same time with the cabinet meeting.
The letter was seen as a clear indication yet that the struggles in Meru are far from over despite the deputy president and senate doing their best to contain the situation.
During the impeachment motion hearing in senate, Homabay Senator Moses Kajwang proposed that the entire county government of Meru be dissolved and leaders sent out to seek their mandate afresh.
This past week, Kawira has expressed her support to an initiative by individuals and governance NGOs to have Meru County government dissolved saying that she was ready to go back to the people.
Had Kawira been impeached by Senate, Rev Mutuma would have taken over as the new governor.
Mutuma was also heavily involved in the impeachment process setting the stage for a face off with Kawira.
Already, some members of the public have presented an impeachment motion in the county assembly, marking the beginning of a record impeachment motion against Mwangaza in one year.
