The US government has given the Kenya government a kshs 150 million in aid towards mitigating the damages resulting from the ongoing Elnino rains.
US ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman while announcing the donation on Tuesday said that of this amount kshs 34 million would be wired directly to the Kenya
Red Cross that is the frontline together with other government agencies.
The rest of the money will go to the national government for easy coordination of the utilization of the funds.
Whitman was speaking when she visited the Red Cross warehouses in South C.
According to a statement by the government spokesman Isaac mwaura, 6 more fatalities due to the ongoing rains have been recorded in the last three days .
The weatherman has projected that the Elnino rains will continue in January, the government assuring Kenyans of it’s preparedness to handle the effects therein through a multiagency framework.
