Inauguration Of Pending Bills Verification Committee- State House Nairobi.
President William Ruto on Tuesday afternoon presided over the inauguration of the Pending bills verification committee in at State House Nairobi.
In his address, the head of state lamented that the government had over the years driven businesses to close instead of promoting the enterprises.
President Ruto asked the committee to work
faithfully for the people of Kenya in the process of identifying the genuine pending bills from June 2005 to June 2022 which stand at over Kshs 600 billion currently.
The Committee, which will be headed by the former auditor general Edward Ouko will help the government strike out some of bills suspected to be schemes to defraud taxpayers for goods and services procured but never supplied.
The head of state told the gathering which had among others deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung'u, Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja and a number of PSs that he intends to lead a government shall in coming days, make prompt payments for goods and services procured.
