Immigration and Citizen Services Principal Secretary Prof Julius Bitok has hailed the move by President William Ruto earlier this year to collapse the many government paybill numbers and instead have a single government paybill number so as to enhancing revenue collection.
Addressing representatives of ministries, corporations, departments and agencies (MCDAs) at
Mlolongo, Machakos County on Tuesday, Prof Bitok revealed that since the implementation of the presidential directive, daily revenue collection has grown from a paltry Kshs 60 million per day to between Kshs 250 - 300 million daily.
This the PS added was evidence enough that there was a lot of corrupt dealings in different government agencies, warning that several top executives risk being axed if they do not fully comply with the presidential directive.
Bitok noted that despite the efforts to have all government services available online, executives in charge of about 300 agencies have yet to make available their services on the online platform hampering governments efforts to improve revenue collection.
He however cautioned the executives that this win is still far off the full potential and government target adding that his department is working closely with the CBK to seal all loopholes that were being used to divert revenue collected by cash payments.
