The day being a declared public holiday saw Kenyans of all walks of like answer to the President's call to plant trees.

Kenyans took to their farms, nearby forests and water catchment to plant both indigenous and exotic trees.
On it's part, the government availed over 150 million tree seedlings which were distributed across the country through the ministry of interior.
Social media was littered with photos of Kenyans happily undertaking the noble exercise.
Government agencies were not let behind and contributed a lot to the days success.
Although initially received with mixed feelings, the holiday proved to be a perfect thought by the head of state, many confessing an air of patriotism while undertaking the exercise.
Save for concerns on the use of resources by some of the government officials, the day was by far a success.
