Reporting on the state of the nation on Thursday, president William registered the calming of the guns in the North Rift as one of the success stories in the past year as president.
The president began by conceding to the fact that pockets of security threats and challenges have occurred.
saying, "The spectre of terrorism is a continuing threat that we must remain constantly vigilant against. Pockets of banditry, cattle-rustling and armed lawlessness have besieged and devastated communities in the Rift Valley, North-Eastern and, occasionally, parts of Eastern and the Coast regions."
He went on to state that the government had taken firm and decisive action that had yielded the current calm being enjoyed in North Rift.
This the president noted had been done by being "systematic, focused, thorough, unrelenting and totally committed to removing for good all threats to the lives and livelihoods of Kenyans."
However, the head of state was quick to caution officers to operate within the law and humanity and remaining professional.
