PS Omollo Presided over the official handing over of the National Peace Building Architecture Review report,
In line with the government's commitment to prioritize peace and security as a development enabler, on Wednesday 15th November.
Dr. Raymond Omollo wants all the peace and security sector players to be actively involved in the
national dialogue that seeks to strengthen Kenya’s capacity to address conflicts in the country and the region at large.
“Kenya may very well be the only country worldwide that has undertaken a peacebuilding architecture review.”
“It is our aspiration that the implementation will reinforce our position as a global and regional leader in peacebuilding,” Omollo said.
The PS commended the IPAs for their commitment and input throughout the process, further stressing on the value of national patriotism in the review.
The Review is anchored on four pillars that will help shape a new national Agenda for Peace in Kenya.
In reviewing the Kenya Peacebuilding Architecture there has been fieldwork in 33 counties; 22 National consultations; 9 expert consultations with 100 experts and 3 Futures workshops with 150 participants.
The Independent Panel of Advisors to the Kenya Peace building Architecture Review had earlier in the year held a consultative briefing with donors. In attendance were Sweden, Austria, Finland, France, Japan, India, Switzerland, Norway, UK, Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark Embassies.
The goals of the review is to inform a new National agenda for peace in Kenya and also seeks to recommend strategies for strengthening the Kenya Peacebuilding Architecture and ensuring its sustainability.
The Peacebuilding Architecture Review will also seek to assess the effectiveness, strengths, risks, weaknesses and opportunities for the Kenya’s peace building architecture in Kenya.
The government of Kenya is actively pursuing sustainable peace, by fostering a collaborative institutional framework that incorporates state, non-state actors, and communities at national and regional levels.
