Kirinyaga Senator Hon Murango on Thursday presented the coffee bill of 2023 in senate.
The bill aims at improving the legislation that guides the growing and marketing of coffee.
The Senator, who also leads the coffee caucus in parliament said that the bill bears the solution to the woes that have faced
coffee farmers for decades.
The bill originated from the coffee conference held in Meru earlier this year where stakeholders gave their input and recommendations to cure the ills ailing the sector.
The bill will also seek to undo some of the reforms done by former agriculture minister Peter Munya.
Last month, the government availed an extra Kshs 4 billion on top of the Kshs 2.7 billion coffee cherry fund to enable farmers get an advance payment.
In his state of the nation address, the President revealed that farmers would get Kshs 80 per kilo in advance payment up from Kshs 20.
The coffee reforms is among the duties the president tasked his deputy president with in executive order number one of 2023.
