While releasing the last KCPE results as the county transits from 8-4-4 to the CBC, education CS Ezekiel Machogu said that the ministry was seized of the fact that there is quite a number of candidates that failed to sit for the exam for different reasons.
implications of it thereof, Machogu announced that the ministry was mapping out all the candidates who failed to sit the exam through a special KCPE exam to be done in January.
This, Machogu said, would ensure that no student who was supposed to transition to high school is left behind.
As such, no student will be repeating class eight this coming year as the government will no longer offer the exam, save for the few isolated cases and which shall be take care of during the January 2024 special KCPE.
The 8-4-4 system has seen over 25.5 million Kenyans sit for KCPE exam in the last 39 years.
