Speaking after participating in the Chemususu dam half marathon in Lembus forest, Baringo on Saturday, roads and transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen defended the government's move to allocate additional funding for roads in banditry affected counties.
Murkomen stated the move was part of the government's strategy to ensure that banditry is ended
permanently.
"We have agreed with the KERRA DG engineer Kandie that we will develop security roads in Baringo, Turkana, Samburu, West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet to open up these areas to ease movement of people, goods and security forces", said Murkomen.
He went on to rebuke leaders that were protesting the extra allocation for roads in these areas calling them leaders who suffer from a village mentality.
He further revealed that in an effort to eradicate the constant IED attacks in North Eastern, the government had injected Kshs 50 billion in the three North Eastern counties to build roads.
Murkomen urged leaders to be nationalists noting that Kenya will not be secure when so parts of the country are insecure.
