Government officials to be blocked from doing business with government.
President Ruto has urged parliament to expedite the passage of the Assets Declaration and Conflict of Interest bill.
Speaking on Thursday on his inaugural state of the nation address, the head of state said the enactment of this bill will help in the fight against corruption.
In a recent function, the head
of the public service Mr Felix Kosgei lamented that corruption in government was at an industrial scale and needed to be stopped.
The bill, one of the key legislations the president is keen on getting passed will see government office holders and their immediate families blocked from securing business with government.
The move is in a bid to bolster the fight against systemic corruption and open up more opportunities for genuine businesses to do business with government.
The bill comes at a time when the president has commissioned a pending bills verification committee, the head of state promising that the government will pay all pending bills within the set out timelines.
