Big day for Kenya in COP28 with the announcement of USD 4.48 billion in green manufacturing deals during the launch of the Africa Green Industrialization Initiative (AGII), presided over by President @williamsruto in collaboration with the COP28 Presidency (UAE) and other African states. Deals announced:
1. Green Fertilizer (USD 1.5B): Fortescue
and Kenya collaborate for a green ammonia project, boosting energy security and cutting reliance on imports.
2. Data Centre at Olkaria (USD 600M): KenGen, Konza, and US investors plan a 200MW data center using geothermal energy.
3. Suswa Geothermal (USD 1B, 300MW): Kenya partners with Indonesia and Masdar for a 300MW geothermal project.
4. Menengai Geothermal (USD 110M, 35MW): Globeleq develops a 35MW geothermal project in Menengai, ensuring secure investments.
5. Paka Geothermal (USD 800M, 200MW): GDC and AMEA Power collaborate on an USD 800 million Paka Geothermal project.
6. Clean Energy Supply Chain (CESC) (USD 200M): US, Brazil, India, and Kenya launch CESC for clean energy supply chain expansion, with a USD 568 million loan for developing countries.
7. Sustainable Agriculture (USD 270M): United Green and Kenya Development Corporation partner for a 15,000-hectare sustainable agriculture project.
